The Forest of Life Field Station was founded January 1999 by Forest of Life e.V. and Hileia Ass. In the heart of the forest it is managed by Dr. Erich Pabst, geologist and well-known rainforest expert. Since 18 years Dr. Pabst is fighting for rainforest-protection. Some years he organized the rainforest-campaign of Greenpeace Deutschland.
The Station serves as bridgehead for the rescue of the Floresta da Vida. The station is also open to everybody interested in the project. It serves also as a basis for the rangers who look after the forest for the NGOs.
